Massage Therapy

We provide both medical massage and relaxation massage depending on the particular condition.

Medical Massage, also called manual therapy, is a type of massage therapy that is focused on a particular area of the body and is performed for therapeutic purposes.  It is performed as a medical necessity to provide symptom relief and improve function and is often covered by private health insurance as well as auto and worker’s compensation insurance.

Medical massage techniques include deep tissue muscle work, deep muscle stretching, Myofacial trigger point therapy, muscle stripping, the break down of scar tissue, removal of muscle adhesions, and lymph drainage.

Relaxation massages are therapeutic as well and should be a component of any long-term wellness care program.  They include long flowing massage strokes to improve circulation, relax muscle tissue, reduce stress, and improve the immune system function.

Chiropractic Adjustment

The chiropractic adjustment is an essential component to most chiropractic treatment plans.

This is a low amplitude, high velocity thrust delivered to a dysfunctional joint.

Adjustments should not be painful and are safe for the whole family, at any age.

They are provided for purposes of reducing pain, restoring normal joint function, reducing muscle tension, removing nerve irritation, and more.

Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine recognizes the body’s desire to heal itself. When you get a cold, most of your symptoms are actually caused by the body’s immune response to the cold virus.  Naturopathic physicians use various treatment options to support the body’s healing responses.  We do this by providing nutrition and medicines to support the body processes that are healing and by using therapies to decrease symptoms and undesired processes. In the case of common cold, an example is to use herbs to increase the number of immune cells. An example of removing obstacles to healing is treatments that decrease inflammation when it is out of control.

Naturopathic doctors (NDs) are licensed to diagnose and treat. Much like your medical doctor (MD), they can order lab testing or imaging (xrays, CT scans, MRIs) and prescribe  pharmaceutical medicines. In addition, NDs also utilize targeted medical nutrition, nutritional supplements, herbal or botanical medicines, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and other therapeutics.

Acupuncture

Why should you get Acupuncture? Acupuncture is a safe and effective form of medicine with a history of use for thousands of years. Recent scientific study is validating its use for a variety of conditions. Dr. Kadakia can apply acupuncture to treat any of the conditions listed above, but finds it particularly effective for anxiety, depression, allergies, headaches and pain of all kinds.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture treatments tend to be very relaxing. Dr. Kadakia uses a very gentle technique and prioritizes your comfort. Acupuncture pins are very thin and typically do not cause much, if any, distress. The initial insertion can be felt as a mild pricking which usually resolves immediately.  If stronger sensations are felt, the needles can be adjusted or removed for your comfort.

Will acupuncture or naturopathic medicine interfere with my medications or other treatments?

It is important to tell Dr. Kadakia about any medication or treatments you are currently receiving so that she can limit the likelihood of any interactions. There are myriad ways in which pharmaceutical drugs, herbal medicines and nutrients interact in the body. Additionally, everyone has a unique physiology that causes us to react in different ways. Dr. Kadakia keeps up with the literature on drug-herb-nutrient interactions and will do her best to work with you and your other health care providers to help you achieve heath and avoid the need for long term drug therapies.

Treatment with acupuncture and naturopathic medicine may change your body in ways that affect your need for medication. For example, if your hypertension is successfully addressed with acupuncture and herbal treatment, maintaining a pharmaceutical treatment may cause an unsafe drop in blood pressure. We encourage you to work with your prescribing physician and Dr. Kadakia to monitor your changing need for medication as your treatment progresses.

Nutrition

Proper nutrition is an important part of one’s wellness plan and also essential for a quick healing process. Good nutrition supports our immune system, which is responsible for keeping us healthy and for healing our injured tissues.

Nutritional Analysis

This begins with a thorough symptom survey questionnaire provided by Standard Process Nutritional Products. Based on the results of the survey, and your complaints, you will be recommended vitamins and/or supplements to help support the body system in need.

Standard Process Nutritional Supplements are available for purchase. Their products are formulated by extracting nutrients from whole food, not by producing synthetic laboratory ingredients. For more information you may visit their website below.

Electrotherapy

Electrodes are placed in the area of complaint and stimulate the musculature for a numbing effect and therefore natural pain relief as well as healing. Electrodes also create small muscle contractions that essentially fatigue tight muscles and result in relaxation.

Interferential Current

Interferential current (IFC) is a treatment modality used by many physical therapists.

We typically use IFC in combination with chiropractic adjustments to reduce pain, reduce muscles spasm, reduce swelling, and promote tissue healing.

The treatment is not painful, patients describe it as a tingling or buzzing feeling.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a treatment offered by many physical therapists for reducing pain.

This is not the same procedure as ultrasound used for imaging purposes.

We use ultrasound in combination with chiropractic adjustments to reduce pain, promote tissue healing, relax tight musculature, and increase blood circulation.

Conditions commonly treated with ultrasound include: arthritis, sprains and strains, bursitis, tendonitis, frozen shoulder, muscle tension, joint contracture, the reduction of scar tissue, and many more.

Ultrasound uses sound waves to send a deep therapeutic heat into the body resulting in an increase in circulation, and enhancement of cellular repair after injury.
